Dr. Devoto graduated in 1989 from medical school at Universidad de Buenos Aires, with honors. He was a first year resident in Internal Medicine during 1990.
He was a resident in Ophthalmology at Fundación Oftalmológica Jorge Malbran , from 1991 to 1994. He passed ECFMG examination, the accreditation exam for Foreign Medical Graduates in the United States.
He was a Clinical Fellow with Dr. Dwight R. Kulwin, Robert C. Kersten and Mark Cepela at the University of Cincinnati, during 1995 and 1996. He joined Consultores Oftalmológicos on his return to Argentina, where he has been in practice since.
He is a Consultant in Orbit and Eyelid Cancer at the Instituto de Oncología Angel Roffo, Universidad de Buenos Aires. He teaches at the Universidad del Salvador and Universidad de Buenos.
He has been a reviewer for Ophthalmology and for Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery for the last 10 years. He was one of the authors of the Basic and Clinical Science Course manuals of the Amercian Academy of Ophthalmology.
He published 14 papers in Argentina and 20 in international journals. He received the Achievement Award of the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 2008, the International Ophthalmologist Educational Award in 2007 and the International Scholar Award in 2010.
He has been an instructor on 3 to 5 courses at the American Academy of Ophthalmology Annual meeting for the last 7 years. He has given more than 200 conferences in Argentina and 100 internationally. He restricts his practice to surgery of the Eyelids, Lacrimal system and Orbit.
